Sources: Nottingham Forest have ‘concrete’ interest in signing Watford star Zinckernagel
Nottingham Forest are set to make a move for Watford attacker Philip Zinckernagel, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.
The Championship big guns are in the market for a wide forward who is proven in the division.
A Forest source has told Football Insider that the club have a “concrete” interest in Zinckernagel following Watford’s promotion.
The Dane, 26, only joined the Hornets in January and signed a five-and-a-half year contract.
Zinckernagel featured 21 times for Watford in the second half of the campaign.
He scored his only goal for the club in a 6-0 demolition of Bristol City in February.
Manager Xisco Munoz deployed him as both a right-winger and an attacking midfielder as his side won automatic promotion from the Championship.
Watford have made a busy start to the transfer window as they prepare for life in the Premier League.
Imran Louza, Emmanuel Dennis, Mattie Pollock, Danny Rose and Ashley Fletcher have all joined the club so far.
Forest finished 39 points behind the Hornets in a disappointing 17th place.
Chris Hughton, who took the reins following Sabri Lamouchi’s dismissal, will be hoping for better in 2021-22.
The Nottingham Forest interest in Zinckernagel comes after Sammy Ameobi and Britt Assombalonga were both named on the club’s released list in May.
Centre-forward Glen Murray meanwhile retired at the end of last season.
Fellow attacking option Filip Krovinovic has returned to Benfica following the completion of his loan spell at the City Ground.

Zinckernagel spent the entirety of his career in Scandinavia until his move from FK Bodo/Glimt to Vicarage Road in January.
He was named Swedish Eliteserien Player of the Year in 2020.
