Nottingham Forest have just agreed the ‘best deal they possibly could’
Vitor Pereira was one of the best managers that Nottingham Forest could have found to replace Sean Dyche.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, after Pereira was named Nottingham Forest‘s fourth manager of the season.
Pereira started the season as Wolves boss, but the 57-year-old was sacked in November after failing to win any of their first 10 Premier League matches.
The Portuguese manager has the task of securing Nottingham Forest’s Premier League status, with just a three-point gap between themselves and 18th-placed West Ham.
Vitor Pereira ‘the best manager Nottingham Forest could have found’
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Pereira does have the ability to keep Nottingham Forest up.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks Pereira will be looking at keeping the job “longer term” if Nottingham Forest remain in the Premier League.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, as a replacement, I think he is quite good. I mean, I know, Vitor had a really good spell with Wolves and I think they were playing some good football.
“And now it’s not the time to start playing great football. Now is the time to start getting some points on the board. And I think Vitor has got the ability, though, if he does well and gets the confidence of the players and moves things forward, then, of course, he will be looking at getting the job for a longer term.
“There’s no doubt he has some skills. He seems to have reasonable player management skills. And so, if there’s going to be, as I say, if there’s going to have to be a replacement, I think he’s probably about the best one they could have found.”

Stefan Ortega update announced amid Matz Sels news
Pereira has already been handed a major blow before his first game in charge against Fenerbahce following an update on goalkeeper Matz Sels.
Sels could miss the rest of the season, with Stefan Ortega having been added to Nottingham Forest’s Europa League squad to face Fenerbahce.
John Victor has already been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign, with Angus Gunn the other goalkeeper at Pereira’s disposal.
