Sources: Nottingham Forest sign Lowe from Sheffield United

Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Max Lowe from Sheffield United, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The left-back, 24, has been in talks with Chris Hughton’s side about a loan move.

A Forest source has told Football Insider that the club have reached an agreement and Lowe has already penned terms.

Sheffield United

He joined Sheffield United last summer from Derby County for £3.5million.

Lowe signed a four-year deal at the time but found game-time hard to come by for the Blades in the top-flight.

He made just 11 appearances in total in 2020-21 and is yet to feature for Slavisa Jokanovic’s side in any competition this season.

Jack Robinson, Rhys Norrington-Davies and Ben Osborn are all currently ahead of Lowe in the queue for the left-back spot at Bramall Lane.

Forest, however, are short of options in that department having parted ways with three left-backs this summer.

Tyler Blackett, Yuri Ribeiro and Nikolas Loannou have all departed the club on free transfers.

Lowe signed his first professional terms with Derby in 2013 and featured 48 times for the Midlands side.

He also spent six months on loan with Shrewsbury Town before embarking on a season-long loan spell with Aberdeen in 2018-19.

Nottingham Forest and United currently occupy the 24th and 23rd spots respectively in the Championship.

Hughton will be keen to reinforce a defence that has shipped 13 goals in their opening six fixtures in 2021-22.

Lowe will become their fifth summer signing after James Garner, Jordi Osei-Tutu, Philip Zinckernagel and Ethan Horvath.
