Nottingham Forest laugh off Premier League rivals being ‘confident’ of striking Elliot Anderson deal

Nottingham Forest will surely laugh off Manchester United’s latest suggestion regarding their interest in Elliot Anderson.

The 23-year-old has become one of the Premier League’s hottest properties in recent months, after a string of impressive performances that have catapulted him into Thomas Tuchel’s England reckoning.

Matt Le Tissier exclusively revealed to Football Insider earlier this week that he feels Anderson will beat Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton in the race to start in the midfield at next summer’s World Cup.

The youngster’s exploits for Nottingham Forest and England have attracted plenty of attention from some of the country’s biggest clubs in recent weeks, with Manchester United heavily linked with a move for Anderson.

The Red Devils have been resurgent under Ruben Amorim of late, and that could potentially signal another spending spree for them in January.

Man United ‘confident’ that £60m offer will spark Elliot Anderson talks

Manchester United’s interest in Anderson began at the end of October, with Forest holding out for a fee of between £100million and £120m for their star.

It’s been suggested on several occasions recently that the former Newcastle United starlet could become the next £100m+ English player, with his former club also linked with a move.

Forest are coming under an increasing amount of pressure in regards to Anderson, but they remain adamant that his current trajectory will see him reach a £100m valuation soon.

Nevertheless, Manchester United are understood to be “confident” that it may only take a bid of £60m to spark negotiations with Forest, with the player himself thought to be open to an Old Trafford switch.

However, that suggestion of a cut-price deal will surely be laughed away by Forest, who have the England star tied down until 2029 and have no desire to cash in on him.

The East Midlands outfit have already shown their intent when it comes to keeping hold of key players in recent months.

Nottingham Forest may try Morgan Gibbs-White repeat

Football Insider exclusively revealed back in August that Morgan Gibbs-White’s new contract at Nottingham Forest had pushed their wage boundaries and shown a need for increased revenue streams.

The saga surrounding the midfielder’s potential move to Tottenham became one of the biggest stories of the summer, as owner Evangelos Marinakis effectively stood in the way of a move, despite the player’s release clause being triggered.

The situation ultimately played out in Forest’s favour on that occasion, with Gibbs-White promptly signing a new contract to extend his stay at the City Ground.

Sean Dyche’s side will likely have a similar plan in mind for Anderson if the interest continues to mount and pile pressure on them.

Ordinarily, it isn’t easy for other Premier League clubs to fend off interest from ‘big six’ sides, but Forest may fancy their chances after the way the events of the summer played out.
