Nottingham Forest medical underway for late permanent signing on deadline day

Borussia Monchengladbach defender Luca Netz is undergoing a medical at Nottingham Forest ahead of a permanent move to the East Midlands worth around £2million.

Forest have needed numerous additions to their squad this month to improve their current predicament in the Premier League.

Both Stefan Ortega and Lorenzo Lucca have moved to the City Ground in the latter stages of the window, with Netz now expected to be their third signing of the winter.

The 22-year-old has registered two assists in 15 Bundesliga appearances from left-back so far this term as Monchengladbach battle against relegation.

Forest recently cancelled Oleksandr Zinchenko’s loan from Arsenal, with Netz set to be his replacement in Sean Dyche‘s squad.

Forest agree £2.1m move for Netz with medical ongoing

Netz has made over 120 appearances for Gladbach since a 2021 move from his boyhood club, Hertha Berlin.

He is now set for a first move away from Germany as Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that Forest have agreed a €2.5m (£2.1m) deal to sign the 22-year-old.

A permanent transfer is set to go through, with Netz agreeing a long-term deal at the City Ground and currently undergoing a medical ahead of tonight’s deadline.

Forest to miss out on Hayden Hackney as Middlesbrough reject latest bid

Dyche wants another midfielder in his squad following Douglas Luiz’s recall to Juventus, with Middlesbrough star Hackney eyed by the Reds as a result.

The 23-year-old has been a key player for his boyhood club for a number of years now, with five goals and assists each in 32 appearances this season as they chase promotion to the Premier League.

Football Insider recently revealed that West Ham were weighing up a move for Hackney in January, but it is the Reds who have made a last-ditch approach.

Forest’s bid to sign Hackney was rejected in the early stages of deadline day, with Boro not open to letting him leave just hours before the window slams shut.
