Nottingham Forest news: ‘Huge’ update on points deduction appeal – sources
Nottingham Forest could hear back about whether or not their points deduction appeal has been successful by the end of this week.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke admitted it would be “huge” for Forest if they receive any of the four deducted points back in their bid to fight off relegation this season.
The appeal hearing took place on 24 April, but there has so far been no indication of whether the club have been successful.
O’Rourke admitted the verdict must be published as soon as possible to maintain the integrity of the league, with Forest optimistic they will receive some points back.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side currently find themselves hovering just above the relegation zone, with third-bottom Luton Town sitting just one point behind them in the battle to remain in the top flight.

It will be an anxious wait for Forest to discover their fate as they would welcome any points back at this moment in time.
The club were handed a four-point deduction back in March for breaching the Premier League’s spending rules.
Everton have also been deduced eight points this season for breaking financial fair play rules, but they have now secured their place in the top flight following their upturn in form.
That isn’t the case for Forest as they still find themselves right in the middle of the relegation battle, with O’Rourke revealing he expects the fight for survival to go right down to the wire.
It appears there will now be a resolution on their points deduction saga in the coming days, potentially lifting a weight off the players’ shoulders heading into the final few weeks of the campaign.
