Nottingham Forest news: Wyness demands points deduction ‘amnesty’
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has called for a Profitability and Sustainability Rules “amnesty” for promoted clubs after Nottingham Forest’s points deduction.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – also insisted the PSR threshold should be increased from £105million to £200million.
Speaking to the Daily Mail on 13 May, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis insisted “PSR seems to me to be an unfair system that doesn’t match the reality of global standards in football.”
The Greek billionaire insisted he “had to invest in order to create a competitive and sustainable club”.
Nottingham Forest were deducted four points earlier this year by breaching PSR by £34.5million.

They signed 30 players in the 2022-23 campaign following their promotion from the Championship.
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I 100% agree with Marinakis.
“The inflation in football has not been factored in.
“There should probably be an increase every year, the same as something like CPI, to make the breach barrier grow.
“We’re at £105million right now, and it should be something like £200million – which would have meant no breaches at all for Forest or Everton.
“I’ve also talked about promoted clubs, like Ipswich, getting an amnesty for three years to try and improve their squads and give them a chance at improving their squad.
“That would be a much fairer system, and it seems logical – everyone can understand that.
“It would lead to a much more competitive Premier League, which is what we all want.”
