Nottingham Forest ‘on the phone to Sean Dyche’ – Fans erupt after new developments
Evanegelos Marinakis is now on the search for a new manager after deciding to part ways with Ange Postecoglou.
Nottingham Forest lost 3-0 to Chelsea in front of their home fans at the City Ground, and just moments after the full-time whistle, it was announced that the former Tottenham boss is no longer in charge.
It brings an end to a very short 39 days in charge of the Reds, and now, the club must begin the search after going winless during his first eight games in charge across three competitions.
Football Insider understands that Forest are interested in Fulham’s Marco Silva, but several Saudi Pro League sides are also interested in the Portuguese figure from Craven Cottage.
As well as Silva, Mick Brown told Football Insider that Sean Dyche is ready to step in at the City Ground, and now, a move for the former Everton figure appears more obvious than ever.
Sean Dyche is expected to take over from Ange Postecoglou
Just 19 minutes after the full-time whistle, which saw Enzo Maresca‘s side put three goals past the Tricky Trees, Postecoglou was handed his marching orders.
One supporter has already suggested that Marinakis was not seated for the second half due to being “on the phone to Dyche,” and he is not the only one who expects the 54-year-old to be appointed.
It is not just the home supporters who expect Dyche to be the next in charge, with many Chelsea fans also suggesting that it has never looked more obvious for the Reds.
- @DerrickAshimwe: “Sean Dyche as Nottingham Forest manager is sooooo obvious. Oh… And he passes the most important test to be Forest manager… He knew Brian Clough in real life, shook his hand too.”
- @TheKopHQ: “Sean Dyche to become the new Nottingham Forest manager.”
- @WhufcLJM: “Dyche to Forest by Monday morning. Prem experience, lives in the area. Viva La Dychey!”
Liverpool and West Ham fans are among those commenting on the situation, and it is difficult to see many other options to replace Postecoglou on such short notice.
Who else could become the next Nottingham Forest manager?
Silva and Dyche are just two of the names mentioned at the City Ground, though Mauricio Pochettino and Brendan Rodgers are also being considered by the owner.
Postecoglou lasted just 39 days in charge, during which he oversaw eight games, losing six and drawing two, leading the Reds to just one spot above the relegation zone before the bulk of Saturday’s games.
Marinakis’ decision to sack Nuno Espirito Santo appeared to be a knee-jerk decision, and after the decision to get rid of the latest boss, it looks even more baffling now.
Dyche is known for his ability to avoid relegation, which is why lots of fans are leading to him already, but nobody will know if he can do the same this season if he is to be appointed by Forest.
