Nottingham Forest owner in bust-up with officials after Liverpool defeat as fans rage – ‘terrifying’
Fans on social media were raging as Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis was pictured on the pitch after their late 1-0 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday afternoon (2 March).
Darwin Nunez stole all three points for the visitors with a goal in the 99th minute at the City Ground.
The Uruguayan striker scored a last-gasp header to maintain Liverpool’s position at the top of the Premier League.
After the final whistle, Forest owner Marinakis was captured by TV cameras on the pitch complaining to referee Paul Tierney.
The Greek then stormed the tunnel after the match and confronted match officials, with the owner asking why Forest had repeatedly seen decisions go against them this season.
Coach Steven Reid was sent off and unused substitute Felipe was booked as the protests escalated.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are now four points clear of Manchester City in second, although Pep Guardiola’s men have a game in hand.
With just 11 games remaining this season for Liverpool, Nunez’s goal could prove to be pivotal in the title race.
