Nottingham Forest senior figure quits – official paperwork filed
Nottingham Forest have confirmed co-owner Sokratis Kominakis has stepped down from his role as a director, sources have told Football Insider.
As per a Companies House submission on Wednesday (12 February), it has been revealed Kominakis’s position has been officially terminated at the City Ground.
The Greek businessman owns a 20 per cent stake in the Premier League side after joining Evangelos Marinakis’s takeover bid in 2017.
It’s unclear what the latest boardroom update means for Kominakis’s future at the club following several behind-the-scenes changes in recent months.
Nicholas Randall KC was reappointed as Forest’s chairman in October following Tom Cartledge’s decision to step down after just over a year in the role.
The club’s board is now made up of Randall, director Ioannis Vrentzos and non-executive directors Jonny Owen, Simon Forster and Michael Dugher.
Lina Souloukou also began work in Nottingham last month after she was appointed as the new CEO at the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest avoid financial hit after Evangelos Marinakis move
Kominakis’s departure as a director comes after Marinakis has been making moves to convert his shareholder loans into equity.
Football Insider revealed on 16 January Marinakis had written off £72million of loans after making a similar £82million transaction earlier in the month.
The latest injection comes after it was confirmed any shareholder loans still in effect after 11 January must be submitted as an associated party transaction (APT) and undergo a fair market value assessment following the Premier League’s recent legal battle with Manchester City.
The Nottingham side will now avoid having to pay any interest on the Greek businessman’s loans.
Nottingham Forest set for £20m windfall after stunning twist
Forest beat Exeter City on penalties in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Tuesday (11 February) to set up a fifth-round tie against Ipswich Town at the City Ground.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have enjoyed a strong season in the Premier League as they currently sit third in the table, six points above fifth-place Manchester City after 24 games.

Finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider Forest could land an extra £20million windfall following their top-flight performances this season.
Nuno is now preparing his side to take on Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday (15 February) as they go in pursuit of Champions League qualification.
