Nottingham Forest successful points deduction appeal to have ‘huge’ Everton ramifications
A successful points deduction appeal from Nottingham Forest will put major pressure on the Premier League to reduce Everton’s sanction, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke suggested that the Toffees will be confident of a successful appeal if Forest’s is also favourable in what would be a “huge” twist.
The Reds were docked four points last month (19 March) after they broke their allowed losses threshold of £61million by £34.5million in the three-year rolling period to the 2022-23 season.
They launched an appeal soon after and remain hopeful that their sanction will be reduced – similar to how Everton’s 10-point deduction was reduced to six in February after their appeal.

The hearing into the relegation-threatened side is set to commence on Monday (22 April) and a verdict must be reached by 25 May.
However, sources have told Football Insider (12 April) that Forest could learn the decision before this cut-off date.
Meanwhile, Everton submitted their own appeal against their two-point deduction, which was given to them after breached their allowed £105million loss threshold by £16.6million in the three years to last season.
It is believed that Forest’s outcome will be revealed first as Everton were charged three weeks after the Reds.
Regardless, well-placed sources have told Football Insider (14 April) that they will not see their points deduction reduced after their appeal.

They are next back in action against the Toffees on Sunday afternoon (21 April) in a potentially relegation-deciding showdown at Goodison Park.
