Nottingham Forest told to accept Awoniyi offer after ‘huge’ news – fans react

Nottingham Forest fans have called for the club to accept offers for Taiwo Awoniyi should they arrive before the transfer deadline on 30 August.

Supporters are insisting the Nigerian’s time at the club could be over as the club pushes to sign a new forward this summer.

This comes as reports claimed the club are in negotiations with Feyenoord over the signing of highly-rated Mexican forward Santiago Gimenez.

Supporters have previously expressed their excitement at being linked with a move for the forward after he scored 23 goals in 30 league appearances last season.

Gimenez helped his side to win the Dutch Cup last time out and has since been linked with big-money moves to the likes of Tottenham and West Ham.

However, with Forest now pushing to get a deal over the line before 31 August, fans are suggesting one of their current options may have to make way.

Awoniyi’s reoccurring injury issues have been a source of frustration since his arrival at the City Ground, and supporters are now willing to see him leave.

He has missed a combined 35 games across the last two seasons with groin issues, missing 18 in 2023/24 and 17 in 2022/23, leaving Forest without their first-choice striker for long periods.

In Forest’s opening Premier League clash with Bournemouth, Awoniyi came off the bench but failed to make an impact amid renewed calls for him to leave.

Now with Gimenez linked, those calls are growing louder on social media.

Others highlighted how important the signing of Gimenez could be for Forest.
