Nottingham Forest have seen a significant boost in their pursuit of Roma star Jan Ziolkowski.

The Premier League club have a concrete interest in the 20-year-old centre-back, who has emerged as an upcoming star in the Serie A.

However, despite Roma’s qualification for the Champions League, the club are still facing major financial issues.

The club reportedly needs to bring in urgent funds this month, and a Ziolkowski sale could be key.

Therefore, Forest are now well-placed to complete the signing as they aim to move away from the relegation zone this season.

As a result, Forest have a chance to secure a bargain deal this summer.

An offer from the Tricky Trees is expected to arrive in the coming hours as they look to improve their backline.

Several scouts from England have been monitoring the 20-year-old over the last few months.

However, it remains to be seen if Forest are able to put forward an offer that will entice Roma to accept as they look to add Ziolkowski to their squad for the 2026-27 campaign.

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Forest are ready to reignite their interest in Jean-Philippe Mateta this summer.

The Frenchman is out of contract in June 2027, and the Eagles are looking to cash in on him ahead of next term, with a new deal still looking unlikely.

Palace are set to demand around £25m for the attacker, and sources indicate that Forest are prepared to back Vitor Pereira to fund the signing.

Mateta almost left Selhurst Park in the winter window before a sale to AC Milan fell through due to him failing a medical.

Now, Forest will aim to bring the striker in to finally solve their woes up top, with the club lacking a consistent goalscorer throughout the 2025-26 campaign.

However, it remains to be seen if they are able to get a deal for Mateta over the line and if the striker is able to pull Forest away from the relegation zone and finally establish them as a solid, mid-table Premier League outfit.
