Nottingham Forest transfers: Big Gimenez talks update – sources

Nottingham Forest are holding new talks with Feyenoord today over a deal to sign Santiago Gimenez, sources have told Football Insider.

This comes after Forest’s planned deal for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah collapsed at the final hurdle.

Sources at the club have told Football Insider that the signing of a proven striker is top priority in the final week of the window, which is why club have been simultaneously pursuing permanent deals for Gimenez and Nketiah.

Arsenal had been holding out for £30million for Nketiah, and although he was said to be excited by the possibility the deal has now stalled.

The attention has now firmly turned to Gimenez, who scored 23 league goals in 30 appearances last season for Feyenoord.

Chris Wood is currently the club’s first-choice striker, and he has scored once in Nottingham’s opening two games.

Nottingham Forest wants Santiago Gimenez’s attacking qualities

Nottingham have made an undefeated start to the new Premier League campaign with a draw and a win, but scoring goals has been an issue.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have only managed one goal in each game, further stressing the need for the club to secure a striker.

Meanwhile, Gimenez has already scored four times this season for Feyenoord while also providing two assists.
