Nottingham Forest’s Clattenburg slammed by Kieran Maguire after new twist

Nottingham Forest advisor Mark Clattenburg has let down all referees through his “baffling” role at the club.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that Clattenburg is not concerned with the “broader interests of football”.

Clattenburg – a former Premier League referee – was appointed as a ‘match and performance analyst’ by Forest in February.

The appointment was met by criticism and the 49-year-old has faced calls from pundits and fans to resign this week after Forest published a statement about refereeing decisions following their 2-0 loss to Everton.

The club lashed out at three refereeing decisions made at Goodison Park and have since announced on social media that they have requested audio footage from VAR.

Clattenburg comments at Nottingham Forest are unacceptable

Maguire slammed Clattenburg for making “comments” about other officials while suggesting that he has “let his union down”.

Mark Clattenburg’s role at Nottingham Forest has been baffling to put it mildly,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

His comments about former colleagues have certainly not helped.

He wasn’t a perfect referee himself, but then nobody is.

Mark Clattenburg’s foremost interest in life is revolving around Mark Clattenburg rather than the broader interests of football.

He’s let down his union and he has let down the refereeing community.
