Nottingham Forest’s Murillo reacts to confirmed Newcastle United transfer news
Newcastle United caught the attention of Nottingham Forest star Murillo with a new transfer announcement ahead of next season.
Eddie Howe’s side will be keen to build on the 2024/25 campaign, having lifted the Carabao Cup against Liverpool before securing Champions League qualification ahead of next season.
In order to do that, the Magpies need to ensure they keep their biggest stars over the coming weeks, with Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon, Bruno Guimaraes, and Anthony Gordon all linked with exits.
Football Insider understands, however, that Newcastle are confident of keeping Isak and Guimaraes after securing a spot in the top European competition, even despite losing to Everton on the final day of the season.
While some supporters remain concerned over the state of the squad this summer, business has already started at St James’ Park, with the Magpies announcing the signing of a talented youngster.

Newcastle United sign Antonio Cordero
Taking to Instagram (5 June), the official club account: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Antonio Cordero, who’ll join on 1 July following the expiry of his contract with Malaga.
“Welcome to the club, Antonio Cordero,” with the announcement gaining a like from Murillo.
The 18-year-old left-winger made 40 appearances for Malaga during the 2024/25 season, helping the La Liga 2 team avoid relegation by eight points.
Eddie Howe to ready even more business at St James’ Park
Football Insider verdict
The Magpies finished fifth in the Premier League table, broke a 70-year trophy drought, and secured a spot in the Champions League for next season. Howe has achieved the incredible.
Despite this, and the size and wealth of the club, supporters are expecting even more from the talented squad next term, with a run in Europe wanted after being knocked out of the group stage last time.
Keeping the bulk of the squad together will be integral to achieving more, and Football Insider understands that Newcastle will not entertain offers for Sandro Tonali this summer.

There has been speculation over multiple stars at St James’ Park, with the Italian international being one of them, but Howe will be in no mood to lose any of his stars if he can help it.
While the majority of supporters will be waiting for new contracts, especially with Isak and Guimaraes, signing the talented Spaniard is a good first move this early in the transfer window.
He is unlikely to make a massive splash in England, likely being loaned straight back out for the 2025/26 season, but there is a talented player there at just 18 years of age.
