Leeds United are to reportedly table an offer to Hull City striker Abel Hernandez – and fans have taken to Twitter to drool at the prospect of his arrival at Elland Road.

The Yorkshire Evening Post claim the Championship giants are putting together a package to entice the Uruguayan, 27, after placing him top of their list of centre-forward targets.

It is said that United want to secure Hernandez on a free transfer after he snubbed the offer of a new deal at Hull, where his current agreement expires on 30 June.

Leeds fans have been mostly underwhelmed by the players the club have been strongly linked with signing this summer, with the notable exception of Kyle Bartley, the Swansea defender who had such an impressive season on loan in 2016-17.

But Hernandez is regarded differently due to his track record in English football since arriving at Hull for £10million from Palermo in the summer of 2014.

The 29-times Uruguay international has netted 39 goals in 110 Hull games, including 28 from 49 Championship matches and a lethal eight from 10 appearances in an injury-disrupted 2017-18 season.

It is these kind of numbers that have got Leeds fans excited about a player who will be available on a free transfer this summer after snubbing Hull’s offer of a new contract.

United supporters would love to see him at Elland Road next season.
