Nuno Espirito Santo in talks for immediate Premier League return after Nottingham Forest exit

Nuno Espirito Santo could make his return to the Premier League much quicker than anticipated after the latest update.

Multiple managers in England’s top flight are facing pressure from their hierarchy, though this cannot be said at Molineux Stadium after Wolves decided to hand Vitor Pereira a new deal.

The Old Gold are rock-bottom of the Premier League table without a single point, but it is not them who have sounded out the former Nottingham Forest man to be their next manager.

Espirito Santo had a falling out with Edu, Forest’s Global Head of Football, before Evangelos Marinakis took action after the manager called out the club’s lack of transfer activity over the summer.

Football Insider understands that Man United will give Ruben Amorim more time despite a horrid start to the 2025-26 campaign, and instead, Espirito Santo could be heading to London.

West Ham open talks to replace Graham Potter

According to talkSPORT (19 September), he is the latest candidate to emerge on West Ham‘s radar as Graham Potter faces crushing pressure from the fanbase at the London Stadium.

It is understood that the Hammers have already spoken with the 51-year-old, with their current manager facing a crunch test against Crystal Palace on Saturday, 19 September.

Gary O’Neil has emerged as a candidate for West Ham, and so too has Slaven Bilic, who would be returning to East London for the first time since November 2017.

When could Nuno Espirito Santo face Nottingham Forest?

The Hammers already beat Forest 3-0 at the City Ground, a defeat which turned out to be Espirito Santo’s last in charge before being replaced by Ange Postecoglou.

Therefore, the two sides will not meet again until 7 January 2026, and there is no telling where the clubs could be in their respective seasons once that date rolls around next year.

He was a much-loved figure at the City Ground, but due to his honest comments about the club’s activity in the transfer market, he was cut from his role despite securing European football last season.

Fans at the London Stadium can only dream of playing in Europe again, with their team currently sitting inside the relegation zone after four games, level on points with Burnley.
