Odds shorten on Celtic signing 'brilliant' goalscoring midfielder ripping up the league

Celtic have been made even stronger favourites to sign Hibernian ace John McGinn this summer, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
Rangers remain second favourites to sign the Scotland international, 22, at 5/1, ahead of second-placed Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen, who are 8/1 in the betting.
This comes after Hibs manager Neil Lennon admitted on Tuesday night it could be difficult to hang on to his star player in the forthcoming transfer window if Celtic make a sustained push to sign him.
“He is a brilliant player,” Lennon told BT Sports. “He is only 22 and he has done a lot in his career already. Obviously, I would be very unwilling to sell, but sometimes you cannot stand in the way of progress.

“If Celtic do or if anyone else comes in with a bid then it is obviously something we have to think about.”
The Express claim the Scottish champions are preparing a £1.5million offer for McGinn in an attempt to fend off interest from rival clubs and those south of the border, including Sunderland.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is said to have been extremely impressed at McGinn’s role in driving Hibernian’s return to the Scottish Premiership as winners of the Championship.
The three-times Scotland international has scored five goals and supplied 10 assists from midfield in 37 domestic matches this season.
In 29 league matches, McGinn’s statistics are also striking, yielding four goals and nine assists from 2,423 minutes of action.
It has been reported that Hibs are willing to offer McGinn a lucrative new contract in a bid to tie him down beyond his current deal, which expires in the summer of 2019.
In other Celtic transfer news, the deal is all but done for a proven Premier League performer to sign for the Scottish giants.
