Form of Celtic senior player has gone under the radar, but not in a good way

One aspect of the current Celtic side which doesn’t seem to be getting discussed much recently is the form of midfielder Callum McGregor.
The 24-year-old senior player, who has become a mainstay of the Hoops midfield in the past year, has seen his form fall off a cliff in the last few months.
It’s a complete role reversal from his performances at the end of last season and the start of this season, where he was chipping in with vital goals and assists, indeed his last league goals came in September.
Now he seems to be playing on the periphery of games, and finding them hard to influence as he did before. This was shown most recently in the recent goal less draw against Rangers, where he was largely anonymous and was lucky to last the full 90 minutes.
He is fortunate that manager Brendan Rodgers is clearly a fan and is willing to pick him for the first-team more weeks than most, but with Ntcham and Brown looking like they will hold down two of the three midfield places McGregor faces a battle for his first-team place.
Hopefully the threat posed by the likes of Armstrong and Kouassi will encourage the Scotland international to up his game and he can turn-in performances in the second-half of the season that he is more than capable of delivering.
