Ola Aina reacts to Morgan Gibbs-White announcement at Nottingham Forest

Ola Aina reacted to the latest Morgan Gibbs-White announcement emerging from Nottingham Forest ahead of the summer.

The 25-year-old has experienced a sensational campaign with the Reds so far, notching seven goals and eight assists in 37 matches, and is just one game away from possibly securing Champions League football.

However, due to financial reasons Football Insider understands that Man City have been given a boost in the quest for Gibbs-White’s signature this summer, with plenty of teams keeping tabs.

His form at the City Ground has caught the attention of others outside of the Premier League, with England boss Thomas Tuchel calling him up for the previous international window.

The talented playmaker is now set to take the international stage once again, and could even feature in front of his own home supporters when the Three Lions face Senegal on Tuesday, 10 June.

Morgan Gibbs-White called up by England

Taking to Instagram (23 May), the official club account wrote: “MGW has been called up to the England squad ahead of the Three Lions’ upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifier and friendly at the City Ground.

“Congratulations, Morgan Gibbs-White!”, with both Neco Williams and Ola Aina liking the post in support of their teammate.

Nottingham Forest and Nuno Espirito Santo could lose key playmaker

Football Insider verdict

Tuchel’s decision to call up Gibbs-White is, obviously, warranted after such a successful season, but it will only provide the player with a bigger platform to showcase his talents during the summer transfer window.

Football Insider understands that Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott could replace Gibbs-White this summer, with the club clearly coming to the terms that they could lose one of their most important players.

Murillo and Anthony Elanga are also linked with emotional exits this summer, and that would be an incredible setback, especially if the Reds miss out on Champions League qualification.

With just one game remaining of the Premier League season, a season-defining clash against Chelsea at the City Ground on Sunday, 25 May, it all comes down to Enzo Maresca’s men.

Missing out on the elite European competition would also throw Espirito Santo’s future at Forest into doubt, especially after an on-pitch clash with Evangelos Marinakis, but all focus will be on Sunday for now.
