Paul Robinson showered Tottenham attacker Harry Kane following his performance in the 5-0 victory over Burnley on Saturday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former England No.1 claimed the Spurs forward was Man of the Match by a street despite teammate Heung-min Son grabbing the headlines.
Kane scored a brace during the emphatic win over Sean Dyche’s side but Son grabbed the attention by scoring an incredible solo goal during the match.
Robinson acknowledged that Son’s goal “amazingly good” but made it clear that he thought Kane was head and shoulders above everyone on the pitch on Saturday.
When asked if Son was his Man of the Match against Burnley, Robinson told Football Insider: “No, I think Harry Kane was MOTM by a street yesterday.
“He showed his all-round ability, I thought his finishing was outstanding yesterday, I thought he led the line.
“He created problems for the Burnley backline all afternoon, which allowed Son, Moura, Sissoko and Alli to have space.
“Yes, Son will get the headlines for his goal, which was amazingly good, terrible terrible defending by Burnley but let us not lament the defending, let’s celebrate the goal.
“But Harry Kane was the best player on the pitch yesterday.”
Kane has scored 15 goals in the 20 outings he has made for Spurs across all competitions this season.
The England captain has featured in all but one of Spurs’ Premier League games this season and is contracted to stay with Spurs until 2024
