Oxlade-Chamberlain tipped to be frozen out by Liverpool next season after reveal - pundit

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to spend next season on the sidelines as Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp does not trust fully trust him.

That is the view of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 27-year-old’s future at Anfield ahead of the Reds’ trip to West Brom.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has made just 11 Premier League appearances this season, with only two of those starts, and was not included in the matchday squad that beat Man United 4-2 on Thursday night.

However, as quoted by the Daily Mail, Klopp revealed last week he will be counting on the 35-times England international in the 2021-22 campaign.

A £35million signing from Arsenal in 2017, Oxlade Chamberlain has two years remaining on his contract with the Reds.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Oxlade-Chamberlain’s game time, Campbell said: “I don’t see Oxlade-Chamberlain playing next season, quite frankly.

“I just cannot see him playing. He won’t play. Look at this season, it has been one of Liverpool’s worst in recent memory and he still cannot get a game.

“It is all very well sitting on the bench and picking up your dough but you have got to play. He was an England international not so long ago. He has got to play.

“A couple of seasons ago he started to have a real impact but injuries have robbed him of so much game time.

“Does Klopp trust him? I’m not so sure. There are a number of players ahead of Oxlade-Chamberlain in the pecking order.”
