Paul McGrath has told Aston Villa to “relax” and “get back on track” ahead of their Championship clash against Preston North End.

Simon Grayson’s side travel to Villa Park on Saturday afternoon looking to do the double over the Midlands giants this season.

Preston beat Villa during the reverse fixture at Deepdale which saw the end of Roberto Di Matteo’s reign at the club.

Since then Steve Bruce has taken charge of the club as he now aims to steer the club into the promotion places.

At this moment in time, they are ten points adrift of the play-off places but could close the gap on sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday after they lost to Brighton on Friday.

Ahead of the match, club legend and former defender McGrath had this message for the club as posted on his personal Twitter account.

Villa will be looking to maintain their unbeaten run at home when they take on Grayson’s side, having picked up points against the likes of Leeds, Newcastle and Huddersfield this season.

However, they have lost their last three away matches in all competitions, failing to score a goal, but they do have new signing Henri Lansbury to choose from.

The 26-year-old midfielder made a switch to Villa Park from rivals Nottingham Forest on Friday afternoon and is eligible for this important encounter.

In other Aston Villa news, supporters react on Twitter as a bid is reportedly being prepared for this 30-year-old striker.
