Paul Merson believes that Tottenham will easily see of Huddersfield when the two sides meet in the Premier League at Wembley on Saturday.
The former Arsenal player has predicted a comfortable 4-0 victory for Mauricio Pochettino and his men, resulting in three points that could take them up to third in the standings if other results go their way.
Merson has warned Huddersfield that there is no point in going to Wembley with a defensive outlook.
The Sky Sports pundit believes that David Wagner’s side will have a much better chance if they try to spring a surprise against Spurs and try to push them back in their own half.
However that being said, he has still predicted the Yorkshire club to be on the end of a hammering.
“Huddersfield have been exceptional in the last few games but then with this game, and then you look at the other fixtures this weekend, you can find yourself back in the mire quicker than you got out of it,” Merson said on the Sky Sports website.
“It’s so difficult down at the bottom but for me, Huddersfield have done the job required of them in the last few weeks so this is a bit of a free swing for them at Wembley. There’s no point in them going there and putting 10 men behind the ball and just fizzling out. They might as well have a go at Tottenham.
“The last time they were at Wembley they had good memories but that being said, I’m expecting a rather routine victory for Spurs.”
Spurs go into their next Premier League game fourth in the table.
They are just two clear of fifth placed Chelsea, meaning that they could end up anywhere between fifth and third depending on how results go this weekend.
Huddersfield are on a high after beating West Brom in a big bottom-of-the-table clash at The Hawthorns last week.
The Terriers are are 14th but only three points above the drop zone.
