Paul Merson predicts Tottenham clash with Hull, highlights two shocking moments

By Amir Mir

Paul Merson has backed Tottenham to easily beat Hull City 3-0 on the final day of the Premier League season on Sunday.

Sky Sports pundit Merson highlighted two shocking moments which eventually led to the Tigers suffering relegation.

The first shocking moment was their 2-0 home defeat to Sunderland, who were already down, with that result followed up by a 4-0 defeat at Crystal Palace.

Merson believes those two performances were “shocking” with Hull failing to score and easily being brushed aside against their fellow strugglers.

As a result, he has backed Spurs to see off the Yorkshire outfit on Sunday afternoon at the KCOM Stadium.

“Hull are on a downer now,” Merson told Sky Sports. “They had two shocking results and two shocking performances to be honest. Tottenham will want to end on a high and I think the players will by trying to help Harry Kane win the Golden Boot.

“I don’t see any let up from Tottenham. They will carry on right to the end and I don’t see them finishing the season like they did against Newcastle last year.”

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will head into the weekend match having beaten Leicester City 6-1 away from home.

During that match, striker Harry Kane scored four goals as he now leads the scoring charts in the Premier League golden boot race.

He is currently two strikes ahead of Everton powerhouse Romelu Lukaku as Kane will want to end the season as the league’s top goalscorer.

On the other hand, after two woeful performances, Marco Silva will be hoping his team can end the season with some credibility.

Hull suffered a 3-0 defeat when they played Spurs during the reverse fixture in December, with playmaker Christian Eriksen netting a brace.

Silva was not in charge of the club at the time, with the now sacked Mike Phelan in the dugout.

In other Tottenham news, this duo were 4/10 during the win against Leicester.
