Paul Merson predicts Tottenham v Chelsea

By Dominic Toner

Paul Merson has predicted Tottenham to end Chelsea’s winning run in their Premier League meeting.

Spurs host Chelsea on Wednesday night as fourth meets first in the league table in a highly anticipated clash.

Antonio Conte’s Blues have won their last 13 consecutive Premier League games and will break a division record if they earn another three points on Wednesday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are also in good form though and have won their last four games, including back-to-back 4-1 victories over Watford and Southampton respectively.

Sky Sports pundit Merson expects a great match up between the two London rivals and claims that Chelsea do have weaknesses.

“Chelsea are looking to break the Premier League record for consecutive wins in this match, but I don’t think they’ll do it because this is a really hard game,” Merson wrote on Sky Sports’ website. “I watched Chelsea’s game against Stoke for Soccer Saturday and they have weaknesses. This will be a very good game and I think it will be a draw.”

Merson has tipped Spurs to earn a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane in the match.

Spurs will renew their bitter rivalry with Chelsea and will be looking to avenge the 2-1 defeat they suffered at Stamford Bridge in November, when Pedro and Victor Moses cancelled out a Christian Eriksen opener.

The north London club have managed to leapfrog Manchester City and break into the top four after Sunday’s win over Sunderland.

They will be prioritising a Champions League spot this season and could still have aspirations of the league table, but must bridge the 10-point gap to leaders Chelsea.

Harry Kane and Dele Alli have scored seven goals between them in the last two games and will be hoping to continue their form in front of goal.

In other Tottenham news, Eriksen has shared why the club are better than last season.
