Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has expressed his delight during the club’s press conference after midfielder Stuart Armstrong signed a new deal with the club.

The 25-year-old’s future with the club has been up in there air over recent months as the midfielder entered the final 12 months of his contract with no signs of extending his deal.

However, the Scotland international penned a new two-year-deal with the Hoops on Friday and his manager is incredibly happy to have him in the squad.

Speaking ahead of Celtic’s Premiership clash against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, Rodgers stated that Armstrong’s contract extension was a positive for the whole club after he made a vital contribution to the squad last season.

On the club’s official Twitter account they quoted the boss, who said: “I’m absolutely delighted, for Stu and the other players. He made great strides last season and enjoy working with him.”
