Phil Foden sends disappointed message to fans after Man City axe
Phil Foden had a message for the Manchester City fans despite being left out once again by Pep Guardiola.
The England international has endured a frustrating campaign, struggling to recapture the form that made him a standout in last season’s title-winning side.
In a year that will ultimately end without silverware for Man City, Foden has found consistent game time recently hard to come by.
Despite the underwhelming season, City managed to secure Champions League football for next term, finishing third in the Premier League after a 2-0 win over Fulham on the final day. Goals from Erling Haaland and Ilkay Gundogan sealed the result.
However, Foden continued run of reduced minutes under Guardiola as he was benched and came on for an eight-minute cameo. The 24-year-old had also been an unused substitute in the previous match against Bournemouth and has started only one of City’s last seven league games.
Premier League stars show support after Phil Foden’s message to Man City fans
Despite his recent omission from the starting line-up, Foden shared a heartfelt message with City supporters on Instagram as the season came to an end.
He wrote: “It’s been a challenging season but glad to finish with a win. Your support throughout has been mega, thank you. On to the Club World Cup.”
His message quickly drew attention from fellow Premier League stars. Tottenham’s Dominic Solanke and Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly were among those who liked the post. Manchester City teammates Nathan Ake and Savinho also showed their support by reacting to the message.
His absence from the starting XI hasn’t come as a major surprise to some, given his recent dip in form. Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Foden has been struggling with the weight of expectation at Man City and the growing demands of his role.
Brown also claimed that earlier in the campaign, Man City staff raised concerns regarding Foden’s performance levels, as he ends the season with just seven Premier League goals.

Man City could miss out on Morgan Rogers amid Aston Villa stance
With Kevin De Bruyne set to leave Man City and Foden’s form under scrutiny, the club are actively targeting reinforcements in midfield.
Football Insider revealed Man City had been interested in re-signing Morgan Rogers but face as tumbling block as Aston Villa don’t want to sell the Englishman.
City had been hopeful of signing Rogers, especially in light of missing out on Florian Wirtz. However, Villa’s firm stance, despite their own financial pressures, could prove to be a halt in City’s summer transfer plans.
