Philippe Clement could get ‘£3m’ Rangers sack pay-off – Keith Wyness
Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Rangers boss Philippe Clement could be due “£3million” if he is sacked.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Aberdeen between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the Belgian has the “football IQ” to turn things around at Ibrox.
The defeat already leaves the Glasgow giants five points behind their Old Firm rivals.
Clement was handed a new contract with the Gers last month which runs until the summer of 2028.
Nevertheless, Football Insider revealed on 2 September that Rangers will not make a kneejerk decision on the future of their manager after their poor start to the new season.
Wyness insisted the Ibrox club need “stability” ahead of a tough rebuild job.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I don’t know the exact details of his contract but I would think he would be due about £2-3million if he were to be sacked.
“Rangers would probably try and stretch that over a length of time but he’d want it in full on the day.
“They should not be sacking him.
“They cannot afford this kind of turmoil. They need stability, and to rebuild.
“I think he’s got the football IQ to help them do that.”
