‘Philippe Clement to land Rangers wage-bill bonus for January transfer window’

Philippe Clement is set for a much-needed wage bill bonus as Rangers look to improve the squad in the January transfer window, reports the Glasgow Times.

That is because Neraysho Kasanwirjo is set to be recalled from his loan-spell in Glasgow by parent club Feyenoord.

The Dutchman’s spell in Scotland has been plagued by injuries and Kasanwirjo has only made two starts in the Scottish Premiership this season before being ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

Belgian manager, Clement, has struggled to get Rangers ticking this season, and following a 1-1 draw against Dundee, some fans are calling for him to be sacked.

Dutch loan regulations require the Eredivisie side to cancel one of their current loans in order to send “unwanted winger” Luka Ivanusec to Dinamo Zagreb, and with Kasanwirjo unable to feature for the Gers he looks to be the man chosen, resulting in the rest of his wages being paid by his parent club.

Following their 1-1 draw against Dundee, Rangers are now 15 points behind Old Firm rivals Celtic in the title-race.

Clement has had the unenviable task of trying to compete with a revitalised Celtic side, whilst losing key players to injury.

Letting Kasanwirjo return to the Netherlands will free up his wages to make another loan-signing, or to potentially even make Vaclav Cerny’s loan stay permanent, something the Scottish side plan to do sources have told Football Insider.

However, the Rangers hierarchy find themselves in a position of needing to make a decision on Clement’s future first, with any transfer moves being contingent on the former AS Monaco manager’s future.

Any future manager targets will likely want to be given the opportunity to have their say on squad-building and will not want players to be signed in this transfer window without their approval.
