Phillips backs Aston Villa to sign Ward-Prowse this week after Source shares update
Kevin Phillips has told Aston Villa to sign James Ward-Prowse in the next seven days to follow up the signing of Emi Buendia.
The former Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted it will take more than £35million to lure the midfielder from St Mary’s.
On Saturday (12th June), Football Insider revealed Villa have registered their interest in Ward-Prowse amid doubts over their midfield options.
A Villa source has added to this site that the club could step up their pursuit in the coming days.
The Villians have already confirmed the capture of Buendia after beating Arsenal in an extensive hunt.
Phillips wants to see Villa complete more early business and sign Ward-Prowse in the next seven days.

“It will take a decent fee to get Ward-Prowse,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“It’s good business getting Buendia in. If they were to get Ward-Prowse over the next week or so then Villa have done good business already.
“It would take a very decent fee to lure him away or for Southampton to even consider letting him go.
“It could be down to the player and if he wants to leave the club, then it’s hard to keep him if he wants to go.
“Southampton wouldn’t entertain anything under £35million. He’s an England player and the best set-piece specialist in the Premier League.
“He’s a quality player who can score goals, he’s a premium.”
Ward-Prowse, 26, missed out on Gareth Southgate’s final England squad for this summer’s European Championship.
He scored eight goals and picked up seven assists during the recently concluded Premier League season.
