Phillips: Liverpool fan favourite tipped to replace Roberton after early team news
Kevin Phillips predicts James Milner will replace the injured Andy Robertson at left-back for Liverpool.
The Sunderland legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest injury news out of Anfield.
On 9th August, Robertson revealed he is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury in pre-season.
The Scotland captain claimed there were no “major” issues though he had suffered ligament damage.
Robertson will be a huge miss after playing in every Premier League game for Liverpool last season.
He also played a big role in pre-season as one of the senior players in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Last summer’s signing Konstantinos Tsimikas replace the defender but Phillips think Milner will be called upon instead.
“Robertson is one of the best left-backs in the world,” Phillips told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Ligament damage is a tough one, you can’t rush them back.
“You do that and they go again then it’s always twice as bad. Klopp knows that and he won’t take that risk.
“It’s another frustration they have to deal with.
“It wouldn’t surprise me now to see James Milner come back in and replace him.
“He’s a safe pair of hands who Klopp can trust and a hero to those fans.”
Liverpool travel to Norwich on Saturday afternoon looking to start their 2021-22 league campaign with a win.
The Reds could welcome back long-term absentees Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez for the first time since the early weeks of last season.
