'Maybe His Last Game For Leeds' - Exclusive: International tipped to quit by pundit

Kiko Casilla had a stinker against Crawley Town in the FA Cup and might just have been the last time we see him in Leeds United colours.

That is according to former Premier League goalscorer Kevin Phillis, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs after Leeds’ embarrassing third-round exit at the hands of League Two opposition.

One-time Spain international Casilla started for only the second time this season but did nothing to convince manager Marcelo Bielsa that he was deserving of more regular football.

He was at fault for the first two goals and, according to Phillips, might never feature for Leeds again.

He told Football Insider: “It was maybe his last game for Leeds. I think his time there is coming to an end. It was a really poor, poor performance.

“They fielded a strong side as well, it was not a makeshift team. Teams have off days and in a way you would rather it be in the cup than the league.

“But I think Casilla’s time at Leeds will come to an end at Leeds soon. Meslier is making the odd mistake but he is growing. He is the one they are going to build on so Casilla could be allowed to leave.

“Whether anything will happen this month, I am not sure, but certainly come the summer I think he’ll go.”

Casilla was very much first choice in his first one-and-a-half campaigns since signing from Real Madrid in January 2019.

He made 57 appearances across both seasons, helping Leeds to promotion in the second.
