Manchester City are preparing to entice Arsenal winger Alexis Sanchez to the club with a eye-watering £400,000-a-week deal which would make him the Premier League’s highest paid star, according to a recent report.
The Sun has revealed that the hierarchy at Man City are putting together a staggering plan in place for the 28-year-old’s arrival before deadline day.
The newspaper claims that City boss Pep Guardiola is hoping that a huge £50million bid for the Arsenal winger will bring him to the Etihad stadium within the next few weeks.
It is understood that in addition to his huge wage the club are preparing to offer the Chile international a choice of exclusive rented properties in and around Manchester which will all be paid for by the club.
The report details that City manager Guardiola is desperate to be reunited with the attack-minded winger after he originally brought Sanchez to Barcelona back in 2011.
Sanchez has been a key figure in Arsenal’s first-team squad since joining back in 2014, but questions have been raised surrounding his future as he enters the final 12 months of his contract at the Emirates.
Since joining the Gunners three-years-ago the Chilean has made a total of 144 appearances across all competitions where he has scored 72 goals and made 42 appearances.
Football Insider verdict
Arsene Wenger has a huge decision to make now. He has been stubborn and adamant that he will not be selling Alexis Sanchez this summer, but a £50million deal would recoup the fees the Gunners paid for Alexandre Lacazette and Wenger would be foolish to turn it down. The Chilean doesn’t look as though his heart is with the north London club now, and his unhappiness would show through his play which could prove costly for the Gunners. Plus, the huge lengths Man City are going to with the accommodation and wages will be incredibly enticing for Sanchez, and it’s so unlikely that he would pass on the offer. Wenger needs to make a few more signings during the window, and with Sanchez’ somewhat imminent departure expected a final push to sign Monaco’s Thomas Lemar could be on the cards.
