Premier League Brighton are “in no rush” to hear from Rangers after they rejected a £1.5million bid from the Ibrox giants for defender Connor Goldson, according to a report.
The Argus report that the Seagulls are waiting to see if the Gers come back with a second bid for the defender after Steven Gerrard targeted him as part of his Ibrox revolution.
The report claims that Brighton value the defender at £2million but believe he is good enough to play in the Premier League for the south coast side.
Football Insider verdict:
The Ibrox giants need a number of new defenders this summer and Goldson fits the bill perfectly for the Light Blues. If the gap between the clubs’ valuations is as small as reported then it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the deal get over the line soon. At 25, Goldson is a good age to come in and make an immediate impact. With some of the other reported names the Gers are looking at, the Brighton defender would be a big improvement on what is currently at the Light Blues’ disposal. Gerrard hasn’t wasted much time in getting some of his targets in with Scott Arfield and Allan McGregor joining Jamie Murphy in signing deals with the Light Blues this summer. With Gerrard not taking the reins officially until June 1st, the Liverpool icon isn’t hanging around and waiting until he has his feet under his desk before getting to work.
In other Rangers transfer news, the club are in hot pursuit of a 6’4″ colossus who could be signing of the season.
