Mauricio Pochettino can recreate the special relationship he had with Luke Shaw whilst the duo were at Southampton, by signing him for Tottenham in the summer.
And after it was reported by the Telegraph that Tottenham would greenlight a move for Danny Rose in the summer, he would be the perfect replacement.
Talking to Sky Sports, Shaw has said that he would like to play for Pochettino again, and said the relationship they had at Southampton was so close it was like father and son.
“He used to call me his son, that’s how good our relationship was,” Shaw said.
Shaw’s Manchester United career is hanging in the balance after he was yet again called out for his display against Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup by Jose Mourinho.
The former Southampton full-back was at one time one of the great prospects in English football whilst on the South coast.
But after signing for the Red Devils, a broken leg suffered in the Champions League has left his career at Old Trafford at a tipping point.
Shaw has found himself in and out of the starting XI since recovering from the injury but a move is needed to give him a lifeline in football.
His treatment at the hands of the Portuguese manager could not be more different to the love he experienced under Poch, and as the defender previously admitted, he hoped to play for the Argentine again at some point.
And with Danny Rose likely to move on in the summer, if Shaw can recreate the form that saw him bag a move up north in the first place, Spurs will be getting a great deal.
