Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Christian Eriksen is suffering from fatigue, but still delivering “unbelievable” stats game after game.
In an interview with Sky Sports, the Spurs boss revealed that certain players, including Eriksen, were tired and this could explain Tottenham’s recent run without a league win.
“Christian Eriksen, maybe can be a little bit tired,” admitted the 45-year-old before adding, “but mentally more than physically because in the last international duty he played two amazing games [Denmark’s World Cup Qualifiers against Republic of Ireland].”
Despite this admission, the Argentinean boss was adamant that even though the Danish playmaker may have “struggled” his stats were still “unbelievable.”
The 25-year-old has played 19 times for Spurs across all competitions this season and has scored four goals along with grabbing four assists.
The midfielder has featured in all of Tottenham’s league games, and has only failed to play the full 90 minutes six times.
Spurs have seen themselves slip to seventh in the league after failing to win any of their last three league games, losing to both Arsenal and Leicester City and drawing with West Bromwich Albion.
The recent results have caused Pochettino to effectively declare Tottenham’s title bid dead, as they’re 16 points behind undefeated league leaders Manchester City.
Pochettino will be aiming to end Spurs’ win-less run when they travel to face Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday.
In other Tottenham news, this star figure is being lined up to replace a former Premier League icon at there European giants.
