Pochettino reveals the moment he realised his Tottenham side had a problem v Gent

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he knew there was something wrong with his Tottenham side during the opening stages of their 1-0 loss to Gent last Thursday.

Spurs slumped to a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Belgian side which leaves them with a massive task to make the last 16 of the Europa League.

The Tottenham boss was reported by ESPN journalist Dan Kilpatrick, on his personal Twitter account, that he knew there was something off about his side after just 50 seconds.

Jeremy Perbert’s 59th minute goal was enough to secure a home leg victory for Gent.

Despite knowing there was a problem, Pochettino stuck to his squad, which saw much-criticised midfielder Moussa Sissoko starting over Christian Eriksen, and didn’t make a change until the 68th minute.

The loss in Belgium followed a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League and it was the first time since October Spurs have gone back-to-back games without scoring.

They returned to winning ways when Harry Kane fired a hat-trick in Sunday’s FA Cup victory over Fulham.

Pochettino’s side welcome Gent to Wembley for the second leg of the round of 32 clash on Thursday night.

Tottenham return to league action on Sunday when Stoke visit White Hart Lane.

In other Tottenham news, these three centre-backs are better transfer options than Harry Maguire.
