Pochettino offers definitive update on key Tottenham talks
By Russell Edge
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has stated that any report of the club opening talks with Dele Alli over a new contract are “rumours”.
However, speaking at a press conference, videoed by Sky Sports, ahead of his side’s clash with Barnsley in the League Cup, Pochettino rubbished the claims.
When asked by the press about the reported talks, he told the press: “Rumours.
“When something happens, when a decision happens, the club will communicate, but that is a rumour.”

Attacking midfielder Alli is one of the club’s hottest talents, having scored 34 goals and providing 24 assists in 101 appearances across all competitions since his move from MK Dons in 2015, and is now a key member of the starting XI.
Last season saw him score 18 goals in the Premier League, placing him sixth on the top scorers list ahead of the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eden Hazard and just two strikes behind Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero.
He has continued his fine form this season, having already netted twice in his side’s opening five fixtures.
His impressive performances have also seen him establish himself as an important player for England, with 21 caps and two goals to his name for the Three Lions.
