‘Powerful boy’ - McGregor delivers verdict on Celtic summer signing
By Derek Smithson
Callum McGregor has been impressed by Celtic’s new signing Odsonne Edouard in training so far and believes he would be ready if called upon against Hamilton.
The Bhoys face an away trip against Hamilton on Friday night as domestic football resumes after the international break.
Brendan Rodgers will have the option to give his deadline day signing Edouard his first game for the Bhoys since he joined from Paris Saint-Germain on loan.
The 19-year-old striker moved to Parkhead on a season-long loan and the Scottish Champions also have an option to buy.
McGregor has been training with the forward ahead of Hamilton and has described him as a “big powerful boy”.

“Edouard has been in training the last few days and is a big powerful boy,” McGregor said, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times. “I think he’d be ready [for Hamilton]. He’s looked sharp in the past couple of days at training. If the manager throws him in I’m sure he’ll do well.
Edouard is a product of the PSG academy and is yet to represent them at senior level.
The France Under-19 international has experienced senior level during a loan spell with Ligue 1 club Toulouse and has now joined Celtic to continue his development.
Rodgers has shown throughout his managerial career that he is willing to promote youth and Edouard will hope to make a first-team impact at Celtic.
The Bhoys are still without Moussa Dembele as he nears his return from injury, while Leigh Griffiths came off injured for Scotland during the international matches but expects to be available against Hamilton.
In other Celtic news, they have been given a double boost ahead of the Champions League.
