Deal in place: Newcastle to push through 24-year-old transfer if they get promoted - report
By Harry Sykes
Newcastle have made Hull centre-back Harry Maguire their top summer target, according to a report.
The Sun claim the Championship leaders have jumped ahead of Premier League clubs in the race to land the highly rated 24-year-old.
It is said that Newcastle will pay big money for the defender and a £12million deal “will be pushed through” if they win instant promotion back to the top flight.
Rafael Benitez’s side are in an excellent position to secure Premier League football next season following their wins this week over promotion rivals Brighton and Huddersfield.
The Sun report that Maguire is keen to quit relegation-threatened Hull and is looking to leave if the right offer comes in.

Hull recently triggered an extension clause in the contract of the former England Under-21 international but it only ties him to the KC Stadium until the summer of 2018.
This leaves the Humberside outfit vulnerable to interest from clubs in the summer transfer window.
Maguire has made 27 appearances in all competitions this season for the Tigers and has established him in the centre of defence with 16 starts in the league.
Football Insider verdict:
Maguire would be a fine signing for Newcastle. Aged 24, he is still young for a centre-back and has showed this season that he is comfortable in the Premier League. Technically sound, strong and excellent in the air, Maguire would provide excellent competition for first-choice current pair Jamaal Lascelles and Ciaran Clark. Under Benitez’s guidance, he could develop into a top-notch defender.
