Leicester manager eyes Celtic stars as they prepare to do battle

By Harvey Byrne

Claudio Ranieri has warned that he could take some of Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic stars to Leicester.

The two managers face off tonight in the International Champions Cup and the Leicester boss has hinted that he will be keeping one eye on The Hoops’ players, as well as his own.

In an interview with the Scottish Sun, the Italian manager revealed that he is aware of Scotland’s top talents and that he has been tracking those in green and white for a year.

“I watched some players at Celtic, but I don’t tell you who they are. Yes, I have watched some recently,” said the Leicester boss.

The Leicester manager is currently scanning the globe for new talent as he looks to retain the Premier League crown, but he has lost N’Golo Kante for £32million to Chelsea already this summer, while Arsenal are eyeing a move for star man Riyad Mahrez.

The Hoops will be keen to keep hold of their star players this summer, with Glasgow rivals and fellow Scotland giants Rangers winning promotion back to the top flight.

The Bhoys won the Scottish Premiership last season by an impressive 15 points, while new manager Rodgers will also be looking to better their play-off round Champions League exit.

In other Celtic transfer news, the Hoops should complete the signing of former Liverpool defender Kolo Toure on Saturday.
