Celtic centre-half Jozo Simunovic is a transfer target for both Burnley and Crystal Palace, according to a report.
The Daily Mirror is claiming that the Premier League duo are locked in a transfer battle over the 23-year-old Bosnian central-defender and a fee of £8million has been suggested.
Whilst Burnley have previously been linked with Siminovic earlier in the transfer window, Palace are now interested in the Parkhead senior player as a replacement for their injured centre-back Scott Dann, who is set to miss the rest of the season.
Simunovic, who signed a new four-year contract earlier this season, lost his place in the Celtic side following the 4-0 defeat to Hearts which ended their British record of 69 domestic matches without defeat.
Football Insider verdict
It does seem likely that Jozo Simunovic may well be departing Glasgow this month, a fall from grace for a player who at one stage seemed set to be a mainstay in the Celtic team for years to come. Since his replacement in the side by 19-year-old Kristoffer Ajer the Hoops have looked far more solid, and Brendan Rodgers may well decide to cash in on the Bosnian. The Hoops may well attempt to get more money for the player however, especially as he has time left on his contract and because Crystal Palace seem desperate to sign a new centre-back. With Ajer and the new signing Marvin Compper in the squad, Simunovic looks to be surplus to requirements in Glasgow.
