Premier League side offer Rangers midfielder dream move to top flight as bid accepted - report

Premier League side Crystal Palace contacted Hamilton over a move for Greg Docherty, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claim that the Eagles were set to offer Docherty a “dream move” to the Premier League but were told that he was on his way to Rangers after a £680,000 bid was accepted.
The Scottish Sun also claim that Docherty would have been interested in talking with him but state that Rangers was always his preferred destination.
Docherty himself delivered a message after his move was confirmed, which was posted on their official Twitter page.

Docherty said after the move was confirmed: “I’m incredibly proud to have signed for Rangers.

“A boyhood dream has come true and I can’t wait to give my all for this special football club. The hard work starts now.”
Football Insider verdict:
This is a fascinating development and you have to wonder whether Docherty would have made the move to Rangers if the Crystal Palace interest had come sooner. It is claimed that Docherty himself would still have preferred a Rangers move but the financial implications from Crystal Palace might have swayed the transfer in a different direction. As it is, Rangers have landed a man who has already interested a Premier League side and that can only be a good thing both now and for the future.
