Prince William delivers verdict on senior Aston Villa figure
By Amir Mir
Prince William believes Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce is doing a “fine job” at the Championship club, according to Alan Shearer.
The former Newcastle striker, who received a CBE last Thursday for his charity work, claimed that the Villa supporter was a big fan of the promotion expert.
Former Hull City manager Bruce has had an excellent start to life in the Midlands, following his appointment in mid-October.
He has won five out of his nine league matches at the club, including picking up three points on home soil against Wigan on Saturday afternoon.
Match of the Day pundit Shearer, who was at Buckingham Palace last week, explained what he and Prince William spoke about.

“All Prince William wanted to talk about was football,” Shearer wrote in his column for Coral. “We chatted about Newcastle’s chances of promotion and he said ‘Mr Bruce is doing a fine job at Aston Villa’, to which I told him I’ll pass on your regards.”
Villa travel to Carrow Road on Tuesday night where they will take on fellow promotion chasers Norwich.
Three points for the away side would see them leapfrog the Canaries in the table – they are currently in ninth place on 30 points from 20 games.
Additionally, they have lost six out of their last seven league games, but they did thrash Brentford 5-0 on home soil last time out.
By contrast Bruce’s side are looking for their first win on the road since October, where they beat Reading 2-1.
After this fixture, Villa travel to London on Sunday afternoon to take on Ian Holloway’s QPR side.
In other Aston Villa news, supporters on Twitter have reacted in positive fashion that they will reportedly move for this £10 million rated midfielder.
