Pundit believes big-money Rangers deal close to being agreed after Kamara reveal

Paddy Kenny has insisted a new contract for Rangers star Glen Kamara will be signed soon.

The former Republic of Ireland goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, branded the Finland international a “key player” for the Gers.

Speaking to MTV Uutiset (September 7th), Kamara, 25, confirmed contract talks with the club were “ongoing”.

In early August, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard confirmed a “really strong, good offer” had been submitted to the midfielder and his representatives.

An Ibrox source has told Football Insider that discussions with Kamara are ongoing and all parties are hopeful of an agreement being secured.

Kenny claimed that in resisting such an overture, Kamara confirmed he was ready to commit his future to the Ibrox club.

“He’s a good, key player for Rangers,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“I can only see it going one way at the moment, I’m sure they will come to an agreement, and he’ll end up signing the contract soon.

“If there was an opportunity for him to leave and he decided to stay, that suggests a deal was already in the pipeline.

“I’m sure they’ll want to get it over the line soon.”

The 34-cap Finland international came through the ranks at Premier League giants Arsenal.

However, he made just one senior appearance at the North London club.

Loans to Colchester and Southend preceded a permanent switch to Scotland with Dundee, where he made 64 appearances.

Rangers

Kamara then moved to Rangers for just £50,000. He has since made 112 appearances to help the club enjoy a meteoric revival.

He was an integral part of the side which went unbeaten to secure the Scottish Premiership title last season.

In other news, Cedric Itten may have no long-term future at Rangers, according to this pundit.
