Pundit: Bruce could leave Newcastle in 'a matter of days' after latest development

The first thing Newcastle United’s new owners will do after acquiring the club will be to sack Steve Bruce.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, amid the latest takeover developments.

Wednesday saw the first day of a Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT) case brought by Mike Ashley over the league’s role in the collapse of the takeover.

The case was reportedly seen by over 33,000 people.

It was revealed the club’s arbitration case against the league will start up in January.

This will ultimately decide if the takeover goes through with the main issue being whether the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be a director of the club.

If the takeover is signed off, McAvennie claims Bruce could be gone in a matter of days.

“We all know it,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“When the Saudis come in, that’s the end of Bruce. The first thing they will do is get rid of him.

“It’s an easy way to make yourself popular with the fans. We know how they feel about him.

“He will know that as well. Bruce may as well pack his office once the takeover goes through.

“Imagine, the richest club in the world managed by Stevie Bruce, brilliant.

“No, he’ll be gone in a matter of days once that goes through.”

Newcastle United are yet to pick up a win in the Premier League this season and sit just outside the relegation zone.

They are next in action against Wolves on Saturday afternoon.

In other news, a winner has been named in Newcastle’s hunt for an in-demand midfielder.
