Pundit can't believe 'crazy' talkSPORT claim after 'incredible' Zidane-Man United update

Kevin Campbell has backed Zinedine Zidane to “get the best” out of Manchester United if he takes over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 49-year-old did an “amazing job” during his time in charge of Real Madrid.

According to the Daily Record (November 16th), Zidane is “attracted to the opportunity” of taking charge at Man United.

Football Insider understands Man United will sack Solskjaer if he cannot transform the club’s fortunes in coming weeks.

Speaking on talkSPORT (November 14th), journalist Alex Crook cast doubt on Zidane’s managerial credentials, claiming the France legend has “only done it with Real Madrid”.

When asked if Zidane has the credentials to manage Man United, Campbell told Football Insider’s Dylan Childs: “People make me laugh.

“You’ve got to understand that he won three Champions Leagues back-to-back.

“He then comes back to Real Madrid for a second stint because of their money troubles and gets them over the line for the league title.

“The guy is incredible; he did an amazing job. I just think a top-class manager like that will get the best out of any team.

“Guardiola hasn’t managed to win a Champions League without the likes of Messi and Iniesta, but Zidane wins three and all of a sudden he’s ‘bought’ that title.

“It’s crazy. It will boil down to whether he wants the Man United job or not. There’s no question – he is good enough for the job.”

Zidane left Real Madrid for the second time in May 2021.

The ex-midfielder won 11 trophies across two spells with Los Blancos, including three successive Champions League titles.
