Pundit claims Nuno at odds with Tottenham chiefs amid behind-the-scenes Hitchen reveal
Alan Hutton has insisted Nuno Espirito Santo faces a fight to win over the Tottenham hierarchy amid conflict behind closed doors.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs defender admitted the Portuguese manager’s pride will be dented by the acrimonious atmosphere caused by his arrival.
A Tottenham source told Football Insider (4th October) Steve Hitchen, the club’s director of technical performance, has washed his hands of Nuno’s appointment.
There is a civil war behind closed doors over the new manager search this summer.
It was initially led by Hitchen before the arrival of sporting director Fabio Paratici.
The Spurs source revealed Hitchen has told friends Nuno’s appointment was “nothing to do with him”.

Hutton admitted the manager would be “annoyed” by the circumstances surrounding his arrival in north London.
He insisted the Portuguese boss needs to prove his doubters wrong with performances and results.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “You’d have to be the strongest personality in the world for it not to annoy you a little bit.
“Going into the job, whether it’s as a footballer or a manager, if you’re third, fourth, fifth choice, it’s obviously going to dent your pride.
“You have to take on the chin and move forward and say: ‘They have brought me in. I’m obviously good enough to do this job, I believe in myself and I’ll go show you’.
“The results, the way the team play on the pitch is going to prove that. He’s went through a sticky spell at the moment but it’s still early days.
“He still needs time to correct everything. I think he still needs find the strongest team, formation and style of play. He needs to get that sorted ASAP.”
